MELBOURNE | Pawn & Co was one of our favourite bars on Chapel Street, and the site of many fun late night shenanigans over the years. When the original site closed in March 2017 due to the site being demolished for apartments we were quite disappointed but less than 36 hours after shutting their doors they were open in a new location, just around the corner.
Now located on Greville Street, Pawn & Co retains what made the original so much fun, while dialing everything up a notch. The venue takes up two floors and has a retro yet futuristic steampunk aesthetic. Just like the original, all of the quirky decorations and nick knacks are for sale.
There’s booths, a courtyard, and three separate bars, one of which is the Carousel Bar, which features a rotating (literally) assortment of high end rums hanging from the roof. There’s also a a talking vending machine that dispenses beer and a cocktail mixing church organ. It’s a little bit crazy, and a whole lot of run and whether you’re into wine, spirits or beer, you can’t go wrong with a night here.
